A Dream Come True

Living near the ocean or a large lake has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember. The water, and the sound of the waves crashing along the shoreline has always been my element. The bigger the waves, the better for my soul, so to live near a lake with a large amount of boat traffic has been the ultimate dream for me.

Well, the dream finally came true when my family moved near Lake Norman in North Carolina. For the first year, we were only a few miles off of the lake, but the dream really came true this year when we moved into a house that is just off of the water and a short walk down the sidewalk to the main entrance of the community where there is kayak/SUP storage and where we can enjoy private lake access.

With water in sight any direction we drive once we leave our community, North Carolina's inland sea of Lake Norman is an amazing place to call home, and has made my life long dream come true.

It has been fun taking the boys fishing at home here on Lake Norman, and to watch the youngest catch his very first fish on the same body of water that the Bass Masters anglers fish.

After a long day of work, it is relaxing to jump in the car with my family, grab some ice cream to go and drive along the many beautiful peninsulas and continuously finding great new spots to explore.

My local spot, just on the other side of the bridge that leads to our community brings me peace at night when I spend the last hour of the day before sunset fishing, usually for bream, rock bass, and white bass, while watching the boats cruise by with the waves crashing against the large sea wall stones.

And speaking of local spots. Lake Norman has multiple choices for enjoying waterfront dining and hanging out with friends for some drinks. I will be sharing more on waterfront eateries and hangout spots in future articles.

A short drive to the multiple public boat launches and fishing piers brings another element to the peacefulness that Lake Norman brings to my soul.

Although I have been fishing and enjoying the water nearly my entire life, it was this move to Lake Norman that inspired me to launch the North Strands website and explore the idea of sharing my passion of the water and outdoors with others.

There is so much more to come, and I am glad to be able to share it, so stay tuned and tell others about North Strands.
